  • Manchester United is reportedly prepared to let Paul Pogba leave for free at the end of the season when his contract expires
  • Liverpool is among the clubs tailing Pogba, a report said
  • The Reds are also linked to a move for another midfielder

The future of Paul Pogba at Manchester United is believed to be uncertain, and some clubs may have already put him on their radar, reports say.

Pogba’s name is once again attached to transfer rumors as Manchester United has yet to secure a contract extension for the midfield star. Moreover, the Red Devils will not cash in on Pogba in January and are prepared to let him leave for free at the end of the season when his contract expires in June next year, The Telegraph reported, citing unnamed sources.

Suitors are already keeping tabs on Pogba’s situation, including Liverpool, soccer journalist Ekrem Konur reported. Club boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen on signing the World Cup winner, according to Konur.

International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

Real Madrid is now eyeing to start discussions with Manchester United over the potential transfer of Pogba, Konur said. Liverpool, meanwhile, is “also” interested as Klopp sees the Frenchman as a “replacement” for either of his veteran midfielders – James Milner or Thiago, the report added.

Milner is 35 years old and may only have a couple more years left in his career. Thiago, on the other hand, is a bit younger at 30, but his proneness to injury may be a concern.

As for Pogba’s stance on the matter, his agent Mino Raiola reportedly said that there is still "no update" regarding talks of a contract extension with Manchester United to this day.

Aside from Pogba, an earlier report said that Liverpool has also been “closely following” Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

The report added that Ajax has reached out to Gravenberch’s agent, who is also Raiola, about a possible contract renewal which will see the player stay with the Dutch side beyond 2023.

However, all parties could not guarantee that Gravenberch will commit to Ajax, and Liverpool are said to be monitoring the situation. What’s even more interesting is that Gravenberch has earned comparisons to Pogba, and both of them are now on the Reds’ transfer wish list.

Klopp has yet to comment on the transfer link-ups. However, he had already set the record straight on their transfer plans earlier in the season, stressing that there’s no need for Liverpool to spend on additional signings.

"We do not want more players," Klopp explained. "Unless something happens, it makes no sense to add more players."
