The latest movie featuring the "most excellent" duo Bill and Ted, 'Face the Music,' will be showcasing other new material than just catch-up on the story. According to Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher, they will unveil new material that will be featured in the movie soundtrack.

According to Gamespot, Mastodon has recorded new material specifically for the movie. Kelliher said that they had been approached in the past to do material for the then-upcoming "Bill & Ted: Face The Music's" soundtrack. The group got together to write a song for the movie. Kelliher said that the song is coming along just fine, finished just in time for the movie.

This revelation also serves as an indicator of how the band has been doing all this time. They had been busy the past years but haven't released an album since 2017's "Emperor of Sand." In 2019, they covered the song "Stairway to Heaven" as a tribute to Nick John, who managed their group for a long period.

As for how the movie is coming along, executive producer Steven Soderbergh has promised that it would be a "really good" film. According to Unilad UK, Soderbergh has been going around saying that the movie is "well worth the wait."

Soderbergh learned of the project from Ed Solomon, whom he had worked with on the series "Mosaic." When he learned from the writer that he was writing a new treatment for a third "Bill & Ted" movie, he said he knew he had to be involved. Later on, when the producer got hold of the script and read it, he instantly became one of the people — Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves included — who wanted to see the movie come to life.

For Mastodon, this isn't the first time they've written a song for a movie's soundtrack. They are also responsible for "White Walker," the official mixtape for "Game of Thrones, Catch The Throne." Their 2004 song, "Island," was also used for Pixar's "Monsters University."
