The script for “Matrix 4” is ready and the preproduction work has already started. Keanu Reeves will be back as Neo, and the actor has also teased some details about what the fans can expect to see in the new movie from the highly successful franchise.

“Matrix 4” is all set to take cinematography and storytelling to a whole new level. Reeves told Entertainment Tonight that he is “absolutely” excited to reprise his role.

Reeves didn’t reveal any details about the plot, but he confirmed that he has read the script. “It’s very ambitious,” the actor teased. “As it should be!”

Joining Reeves in the film is Carrie-Anne Moss, who plays Neo’s love interest Trinity. There will be multiple new cast members who will be joining the movie, and Abdul-Mateen II has been confirmed to play one of the lead characters, Variety reported.

Mateen impressed the audience with his performance as the villain Manta in the 2018 “Aquaman” movie. He also played Cal Abar in the “Watchmen” TV series.

The other big actor who is negotiating to be a part of “Matrix 4” is Jessica Henwick, Variety reported. The “Game of Thrones” and “Iron Fist” star was in final negotiations with the studio for the role last month, but her casting is yet to be confirmed.

Lana Wachowski will be directing the movie and producing it with Grant Hill. The script of the movie will be written by Wachowski, Aleksander Hemon, and David Mitchell. The production of the movie is expected to begin by early 2020. More details about the filming and the cast are expected in the coming weeks.

“The Matrix 4” is set to be released in 2022. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date. The plot of the movie may be revealed along with the start of production announcement.
