The casting of “Matrix 4” continues with “Frozen 2” actor Jonathan Groff joining the film. The script of the film is also ready, and actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has read it.

Groff is known for lending his voice to the “Frozen 2” movie character Kristoff. He has also been a part of the “Mindhunter” TV series. The actor has now been cast in a mystery role for the upcoming Keanu Reeves movie, Collider reported.

Although the details about Groff’s character are currently being kept under wraps, the report speculated that the actor may play one of the agents inside the Matrix. The actor is suited for such a role after his performance in “Mindhunter,” but it remains to be seen if this is the role he will be playing the upcoming movie.

Abdul-Mateen II will be playing a major character in the movie, and in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly he said that the script of “Matrix 4” is “very exciting” and “relevant.” He isn’t allowed to share any details about the film yet, but he said that he is “honored” to be a part of the project. The actor may share more details once the production starts.

Although there is no official confirmation about the role Abdul-Mateen II is playing, there have been rumors that he is going to play young Morpheus. In the previous movies, Laurence Fishburne played the role of Morpheus, a leader of the resistance movement against the machines that have enslaved mankind in post-apocalyptic world where people are used as batteries while their minds are trapped in a digital world known as the Matrix.

The production of “The Matrix 4” is expected to begin early next year and it will be released in 2022. According to Screen Rant, one of the reasons why the film is expected to be great is because the script is being written by David Mitchell and Aleksander Hemon, who are known for being talented novelists.
