  • Kimmel and Damon has a long-running comedic rivalry

Matt Damon crashed Jimmy Kimmel’s show while the host was announcing that he’s taking a break.

Damon and Kimmel are among the celebrities with a long-standing comedic feud.

On June 18, Kimmel announced that he would be taking a couple of months off. So, several celebrities will be taking over the show for him. He assured fans that everything is fine and he just needs a break to be with his family.

“Tonight is my last new show for the summer. I'm taking the summer off to take even more time with my family,” he said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“I've been doing this job for almost 18 years, I've done 3,130 shows. There's nothing wrong, I'm healthy, my family's healthy, I just need a couple of months off.”

While the host was speaking, Damon, who was wearing a bathrobe, made an appearance in the background. According to “The Martian” actor, he had been in the room for three months and had been waiting to get on the show.

While they were talking, Kimmel’s wife, Molly McNearney, entered the room, also wearing a bathrobe.

“Why is my wife in the room?” Kimmel asked Damon.

“Why do you think she's in the room?” Ben Affleck’s BFF answered.

“You son of a [explicit], you did it again,” the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host said.

Damon called Molly to get her mask on because he was on his way and left Kimmel while wishing him a great summer.

“You have a great summer wherever you are going,” Kimmel yelled back at Damon.

“I will, I’m going into your wife,” Damon said.

“We’re going to take a break now. I’m sorry I had to see that. I am going to get a divorce and we’ll be back with Pharrell Williams,” the host said.

Kimmel and Damon seem to hate each other, but it’s all fake, according to Vogue. The two are actually good friends, but their faux rivalry has been going on for over 10 years already.

It began in the third season of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” when Damon bumped into Kimmel backstage. Their encounter became a regular joke the whole season, with the host mentioning the actor every night.

“We had a bad show…The guests were bad, and I was feeling pretty bad about myself at the end of the program,” Kimmel told NPR in 2013.

“And I decided to say, for the amusement of one of our producers who was standing next to me…‘I want to apologize to Matt Damon. We ran out of time’…And he got a kick out of it, the producer, so I just started doing it every night to amuse him.”
