Amazon’s newest original series has an all-star cast. “Good Omens” features plenty of familiar faces from both sides of the pond, and some of them will be tackling characters that have been around for centuries.

“Good Omens,” based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, follows the beginning of Armageddon. One demon and one angel decide they rather like the Earth and wouldn’t mind if it survived the apocalypse. It’s up to them to stop the antichrist.

David Tennant plays Crowley, a demon who has grown fond of Earth. According to his fellow demons, he has “gone native.” He quite likes rock n’ roll and cars.

Tennant is probably most recognizable for his starring role in “Doctor Who.” The actor also appeared in “Broadchurch,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” and “Camping.”

Michael Sheen plays Aziraphale, an angel who is also pretty happy with his Earthly life. The “Good Omens” character enjoys good food, wine and books.

Sheen starred in “Masters of Sex” for four seasons as William H. Masters. He also is known for “Frost/Nixon,” “The Queen” and “The Good Fight.” Sci-fi/fantasy fans might recognize him from his roles in the “Underworld” and “Twilight” franchises.

Jon Hamm plays Gabriel, an archangel who isn’t particularly attached to this world.

Hamm, of course, is most known for “Mad Men,” but viewers may have seen him in “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “Baby Driver” recently.

Josie Lawrence plays Agnes Nutter, the 17th-century witch who wrote the only accurate book of prophecies in the world. Before “Good Omens,” Lawrence appeared in “Robin Hood,” “Skins” and “EastEnders.”

Adria Arjona plays Anathema Device, Agnes Nutter’s last descendant. She’s a witch who will be very helpful to Crowley and Aziraphale. Arjona has appeared in TV shows like “Emerald City” and “True Detective” and films like “Life of the Party” and “Pacific Rim: Uprising.”

Sam Taylor Buck is playing Adam Young, the antichrist. The actor is relatively new to the business, but he appeared in last year’s “Medici.”

Daniel Mays plays Arthur Young while Siân Brooke plays Deirdre Young. They are the parents who don’t realize that the boy they have been raising is actually the Lord of Darkness. Mays has appeared in many British TV shows, but American audiences might remember him from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Brooke also has plenty of UK TV on her resume, including “Sherlock” and “Doctor Foster.”

Nick Offerman plays Thaddeus Dowling, the American ambassador who was supposed to raise the Antichrist. His disappointingly normal son is named Warlock. The “Parks and Recreation” alum has been in “Fargo” and “The Founder.”

Benedict Cumberbatch voices Satan on “Good Omens.” He plays Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (most recently appearing in “Avengers: Endgame”), and he is known for portraying Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series “Sherlock.”

Frances McDormand is the voice of God. The actress has two best actress Oscars for “Fargo” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.” She also appeared in “Olive Kitteridge,” “Almost Famous” and the “Transformers” franchise.

Jack Whitehall appears as Newton Pulsifer, a descendant of the man who burned Agnes Nutter at the stake. He might not do the same to Anathema, though. Whitehall is a stand-up comic known for his roles in “Bad Education” and “Mother’s Day.”

Nina Sosanya plays Sister Mary Loquacious, a very important nun who works for Satan. She is most recognizable from “Love Actually,” but more recently, the actress has appeared on “Killing Eve” and “Marcella.”

Miranda Richardson plays Madame Tracy, a medium and prostitute. Fans will recognize her from the “Harry Potter” franchise as well as “The Hours” and “Sleepy Hollow.”

Expect these familiar faces and more in the first season of “Good Omens.” All six episodes premiere Friday on Amazon Prime.
