Following the Friday night drawing, a player from Massachusetts hit the Match 5, winning $1 million. If the player would have matched five numbers with the 4X Megaplier, they would have won $4 million.

There were 18 players who hit the Match 4 plus gold Mega Ball and won $10,000 each. Meanwhile, there were only three players who matched four numbers plus gold Mega Ball with the Megaplier, winning $40,000 apiece.

The rest of the Mega Millions wins from the night ranged between $2 and $2,000.

The latest Mega Millions jackpot comes after a player from Maryland claimed a $1 million prize. The retired veteran purchased the winning ticket for the May 24 drawing at the Star Gas Mart in Rising Sun.

The player plans to use his winnings to help his family members, pay off some bills, make some investments, and donate to his church.

Jackpot winners can receive their grand prize winnings through either a one-time lump sum payment or an annuity. Those who opt for the annuity receive one immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.

Mega Millions can be played in 45 states as well as the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
