Meghan Markle is trying to charm Queen Elizabeth II.

The Duchess of Sussex and the Queen have a great relationship based on photos and as observed when they are out together. However, according to Neil Sean, the monarch’s favorite royal remains the same and it’s neither Markle nor Kate Middleton.

“The Queen’s favourite is the Countess of Wessex, Prince Edward’s wife. She is the number one the Queen goes to for a chat,” Sean told Today.

Many consider Sophie, Countess of Wessex to be Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite royal. The two have been seen together from time to time. In December, the Queen and Sophie were photographed attending a morning church service at St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate. They were joined by Prince Edward and their daughter Lady Louise Windsor.

However, Sean noted that Markle has integrated herself well with the Queen.

“I would say Meghan has ingratiated herself very cleverly with the Queen. We saw last year them going on the trip and the royal train and all that sort of stuff,” he continued.

Just months after Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding, the duchess scored a solo engagement with Her Majesty. Queen Elizabeth II invited Markle to join her as she officially unveiled a new bridge in Widnes, Cheshire and opened the Storyhouse Theatre.

The royal commentator added that the Queen is “very much a girls’ girl” and she tries to connect with the younger members of the family to guide and nurture them. Sean praised the Queen for what she did to Markle, saying that it was the “kindest thing” the monarch did to all the people joining the Firm.

He commended how Queen Elizabeth II reached out and connected to Markle as quickly as she proved to her that the terrible stories about her being unkind were not true.

Queen Elizabeth II also did the same to the Duchess of Cambridge. The monarch met Middleton ahead of her royal wedding to Prince William to teach her the basics on how to act as a royal in public.

According to Ashley Pearson in Amazon Prime’s documentary “Kate Middleton: Working Class to Windsor,” Prince William’s wife received a great deal of support from the royal family as instructed by Queen Elizabeth II. The monarch wanted to prepare Middleton because she understood that she had a different upbringing.
