Meghan Markle is back on social media and this may affect her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their official Instagram account. In just a few hours, their new profile amassed millions of followers and as of this writing, Prince Harry and Markle already have over four million followers.

According to Daniela Elser of News.com.au, Markle’s account is causing problems and the Duchess of Cambridge is the “biggest loser.” In the coming weeks, Prince Harry and Markle’s account will have more followers, especially that their baby is set to arrive soon.

There will come a point when they will have more followers than the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. This social media face-off might affect the royal establishment as people will be pitting the couple against each other.

The comparison, especially on the number of followers and likes is inevitable. A number of netizens already announced that they would unfollow Kensington Palace after learning that Markle and Prince Harry already have their separate social media account and this led to Prince William and Middleton losing followers.

According to Roya Nikkhah in an entry for The Sunday Times, the “surest sign that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are bent on carving out a new royal identity for the media age came with the launch last week of @sussexroyal.”

The fab four used to be under the social media umbrella of Kensington Palace and Kensington Royal. Their move to have a separate social media account may “cause unexpected grief back home.”

Nikkhah added that with a couple of intimate family photos the Sussexes may soon become the world’s most-liked royals based on social media likes. She pointed out that the comparison when Prince William, Middleton, Prince Harry and Markle were still under Kensington Palace “didn’t matter” but now they are “going head to head.”

Markle is reportedly “very hands-on” with Instagram, a job that Prince William and Middleton leave to hired social media staff. An insider said that Instagram is the perfect way for Markle to express herself after she lost her voice.

The insider continued saying that there’s nothing to worry as the former “Suits” star is also clever enough to know that “the Duchess of Sussex can’t use social media in the same way Meghan Markle did.”

In related news, Kensington Palace has been criticized due to a controversial photo. A number of netizens wanted Prince William and Middleton to fire them and hire a new team who can “post with more sensitivity.”
