Meghan Markle is set to grace a magazine cover after refusing Vogue.

The Duchess of Sussex will appear on the front cover of the anniversary issue of Tatler magazine. The publication praised Markle for brining a “breath of California cool to the drab ad dusty corridors” of the royal palaces.

Richard Dennen, editor-in-chief of the lifestyle and fashion magazine, praised Markle’s style choices. He was also convinced that Prince Harry’s wife was a positive force for change in the royal family.

“As the Duchess of Sussex knows well, every generation has its struggles - but it’s always cool to be on the right side of history,” Dennen said.

“I think the Duchess of Sussex is fabulous. I love that she is independent and not afraid of doing things her own way. I like her fashion choices, which are chic, sophisticated and grown-up, and the way she is bringing a breath of California cool to the drab and dusty corridors of the old guard.”

Markle guest-edited the September issue of Vogue. According to magazine editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, Markle declined to appear on the cover because it was a “boastful thing” to do for her project. Many reacted after learning about Markle’s statement. Some felt that she was throwing some shades at Kate Middleton who appeared on the magazine cover in June 2016 for its centenary edition.

Commentator Carole Malone criticized Markle and called the duchess a “hypocrite.” She felt that the Duchess of Sussex’s move was “hypocrisy on a grand scale” because she has been on the covers of big magazines. Markle even graced the cover of Vanity Fair months before her royal wedding to Prince Harry.

In related news, royal biographer Angela Levin commented on Prince Harry and Markle’s ITV documentary where the couple became emotional as they poured their hearts out over their struggles as royals and first-time parents. According to Levin, they were “incredibly brave” for opening up.

She added that Prince Harry looked “incredibly miserable and unhappy.” She also felt that Markle was unhappy and “incredibly sad” that they couldn’t help each other at the moment.
