  • Their Archewell Foundation is partnering with World Central Kitchen
  • They will build a community relief center in India

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just celebrated their third wedding anniversary Wednesday. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex used the special occasion to announce a new project from their Archewell Foundation.

In a statement posted on their official website, the couple said the foundation has partnered with World Central Kitchen to build a new community relief center in India, which is currently facing a second wave of COVID-19.

The two organizations plan to focus on the long-term needs of local communities as the number of cases continues to spike across the country. The community relief center will come up in Mumbai.

The center will serve as a refuge for people who need relief, resilience strength and healing in times of crisis. It could also serve as an emergency response kitchen, a food distribution hub, or a community gathering space for heavily affected families.

This will be the third community relief center to be developed by Archewell Foundation and World Central Kitchen. The first one was set up on the Caribbean island of Dominica. The second one is being built in Puerto Rico.

"The health of our communities depends on our ability to connect to our shared humanity," Meghan and Prince Harry previously stated in a joint statement. "When we think about Chef Andrés and his incredible team at World Central Kitchen, we're reminded that even during a year of unimaginable hardship, there are so many amazing people willing — and working tirelessly — to support each other."

The Sussex couple tied the knot on May 19, 2018, in a fairytale-like ceremony held at Windsor Castle. It remains unclear how Meghan and Harry celebrated their third wedding anniversary. Most likely, they spent the special day at their home in Montecito with their son Archie.

In February, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex publicly announced they were expecting their second child. The pregnancy announcement came after the former "Suits" actress revealed she had a miscarriage in July 2020.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced the pregnancy by sharing a black-and-white snap of them together. In the photo, the prince looks amorously at his wife, who holds her baby bump as she rests in his lap.
