Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have to bring one expensive item at their son’s christening.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, will be christened this weekend in a private ceremony in Windsor. According to Frederica Miller of Express, the event will have all the pomp and ceremony of a key royal event.

Prince Harry and Markle are expected to bring the $14,000 Lily Font, a gold christening bowl that was commissioned by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The font is kept at the Tower of London but is transported to church for British royal christenings. The Lily Font will be taken to Windsor for Archie’s special day this weekend.

All of the royal children and grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II have been baptized in the Lily Font except for Princess Eugenie. The Duke and Duchess of York had the first public baptism for a member of the British royal family when they had their second daughter.

Royal babies are usually christened with water brought from the River Jordan where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. The water is traditionally poured from a silver ewer made for the christening of the future King George III in 1735.

Meanwhile, many were not happy with Prince Harry and Markle’s decision to have a private christening for their son. The public was outraged for the couple’s request for privacy after public records showed that they used the taxpayers’ money for their $3.05 million house renovation.

“If you really want to be a private citizen, the argument is you should not be taking money for your palaces, and your homes, and your fashion to be great,” E! News chief correspondent Melanie Bromley said.

“If you want to be private, then you are private and that means not taking money from the state.”

The public had the same opinion when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they would keep Markle’s birthing plans a secret and would only show their baby after they have had enough family time with him.

A number of netizens slammed the couple for demanding privacy when the public paid for their privileged lives. One angry netizen said that the public pay for the couple and they should not just cut them out when they want to. The netizen also questioned Prince Harry’s decisions.
