Meghan Markle received intense backlash and death threats due to her role in "Suits."

The Duchess of Cambridge catapulted to fame due to her role in USA Network's "Suits." She gave life to the character of Rachel Zane, a paralegal who dated and eventually married Patrick J. Adam's Mike Ross. However, in Season 4, fans bombarded her with harsh messages due to a particular scene.

According to Andrew Morton's biography "Meghan: A Hollywood Princess," "Suits" fans didn't like it when they saw Markle's character kissing her ex-boyfriend Logan Sanders while she was in a relationship with Ross. A number called her bad names and some even sent her death threats.

"When Meghan took another sip of red wine, she nearly choked as she scrolled through to the comments," Morton wrote (as quoted by The Sun). "As the night wore on, she was genuinely concerned, and not a little afraid, as more and more emojis of knives and guns appeared."

According to the biographer, the fans weren't angry at Rachel the character but at Markle, the actress. Abusive comments kept on pouring targeting the former actress.

"As she pondered just how fans could become so invested in a story, which was, after all, make-believe, the comments kept heating up," Morton added. "Now there were death threats. 'Meghan Markle, I wanna kill you. You [expletive].'"

Eventually, Markle talked to series creator Aaron Korsh and told him that "this has to stop." The Duchess of Sussex also aired her opposition about how the character was being portrayed.

"I like Rachel, I like playing Rachel, I like what she stands for. And this feels really out of character," Markle told Miami Living magazine.

"Suits" editor Angela Catanzaro who had worked on the series also agreed with Marke's stand on the matter. So, the production made an effort to end the issue.

"Korsh saw wisdom in their words, and within an episode, Mike Ross and Rachel Zane’s romance was correcting itself and gearing up to be back on track"

In related news, according to Victoria Arbiter, Markle and Kate Middleton's fans don't get along well with each other. The separate groups pit the two women against each other.

However, the two royals share a great relationship. This was visible when they step out together to watch the women’s finals for at Wimbledon. Markle reportedly didn't compete with the Duchess of Cambridge, who will be the future queen.
