Meghan Markle and Serena Williams have been friends for years already. Often called as the “unlikely duo,” the wife of Prince William and the American professional tennis player have stuck by each other through thick and thin since they met at a Super Bowl party in 2010. The two personalities have even been relying on each other a lot recently.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Serena revealed how Meghan is to her as a friend. The 38-year-old athlete described the Duchess of Sussex as the “strongest,” nicest” and “sweetest” person she knows. She also revealed that Prince Harry’s wife has been very supportive of her even after she became a member of the Royal family.

To recall, Meghan Markle was seen with Baby Archie during the U.S. Open women’s final in September to support her BFF. Sightseers claimed that the Duchess sat near Serena William’s mom, Oracene Price, and coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, at the time. Meghan, reportedly, talked to both of them as they watch Serena’s game against Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu.

“She greeted everyone legitimately like an old friend. She seemed bashful when they put her on the big screen,” a source told Us Weekly. “She was definitely engaged in the match [and] cheered and stood on big points,” it went on.

The entertainment news outlet also confirmed that Meghan Markle booked a last-minute flight just to watch Serena Williams at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York. Another insider even stated to Us Weekly that the mom of one was very excited to be supporting and watching her friend.

Though many were touched with Meghan’s act of support for Serena, her critics pointed out how she might be the reason why the tennis player lost to Sinoma Halep and Bianca Andresscu this year. “Dear Meghan Markle please stop attending Serena’s finals matches. You are a jinx. Signed fans who are not her friends,” a Twitter user wrote.

“Meghan. Duchess. Love you so much. Really do. Are you a jinx though? Has she been at most of the losses?” another person said. Because of this, a source told Page Six that members of Serena William’s team were worried about Meghan Markle being in the crowd again in her future matches. Neither of the two personalities has commented on these claims up to this writing.

For starters, Meghan Markle and Serena Williams have been friends for nine years already. The American athlete, previously, revealed that the Duchess usually comes out to Wimbledon every year just to cheer and show support for her. Serena even divulged she confided in the Duchess of Sussex over text after her U.S. Open outburst in September 2018.
