Meghan Markle’s royal engagements have reportedly been inspired by Michelle Obama since the two women are passionate about women’s education, issues of equality, and the #MeToo movement.

The Duchess of Sussex and the ex-FLOTUS have also been campaigning on physical and mental health, which is something that they have placed at the forefront of their work agenda.

While still living at the White House, Barack Obama’s wife raised awareness on childhood obesity, and she also promoted healthy eating and living with her Let’s Move! public health campaign. It has been Michelle’s goal to lower the rates of childhood obesity to just five percent by 2030.

Markle, on the other hand, has been supporting Prince Harry’s endeavors to raise awareness of mental health. The Duke of Sussex’s Heads Together and Invictus Games organizations have been addressing mental and physical health for years.

The Duchess of Sussex and the former first lady are also linked together through Oprah Winfrey, who they have both worked closely with. Prince Harry and Markle are producing a multi-part documentary alongside Winfrey for Apple TV, which will be focused on mental health.

The Obamas, on the other hand, started their own production company after leaving the White House, and they scored a multi-million deal with Netflix. The former first lady also appeared on Winfrey’s special interview audition, where she talked about her marriage, her life post-White House, her daughters Malia and Sasha and more.

In January, reports swirled that the Obamas were advising Prince Harry and Markle on what they should do after their bombshell exit. Royal aides told Daily Mail that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex look up to Barack and Michelle and they want to follow in their footsteps of becoming even more successful after their White House gig.

Days later, a source told People that there is no truth to the reports.

“The rumors of them having anything to do with this are totally false. The former president and first lady are not advising the couple and have not been in contact with them,” the source said.
