First Lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump, on Sunday, graced the opening ceremony and welcomed NASCAR fans to the start of this year’s Daytona 500. The first couple received loud cheers from over 101,500 people when they arrived at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida. Melania opted for a black and white polka dots sundress from Dior, which is said to be one of her favorite designer labels.

On Monday, the FLOTUS shared photos of her and President Donald Trump during the event. “Thank you @NASCAR and @DISupdates for a patriotic & fun afternoon! #DAYTONA500,” Melania wrote in the caption. Critics and fans of the former model were quick to react to Melania’s tweet.

“Did Easter come early? Sleeveless dress and white shoes? It's February so temp not higher than mid-70s. Odd person,” Ginger Sottile said in the comment section. “How much did it cost me?” Terry Jones shared. “At taxpayers expense!! Have fun on your own dime. I work my butt off 12+ hours a day 5 days a week. I don'tdo that for you to have fun!!! ( do you know what WORK is?),” a third netizen stated.

“I really don’t care. Birther,” Linda Gahan added. “@Flotus did not wear what you would call appropriate wear for NASCAR,” a fifth Twitter user penned. “Photo opp for pretend patriots,” another one said.

Avid supporters of Melania Trump, on the other hand, gave nothing but love and praises for her and President Donald Trump. “The entire nation loves @FLOTUS for representing us so well. It's great to FINALLY have an optimistic, patriotic, wonderful First Lady!” a netizen shared. “You looked stunning, FLOTUS. What a great day for America & NASCAR!” Brian Molino stated. “It was the best way to start the race season. Thank you for you and @realDonaldTrump taking time out of your busy schedule to do that. It was awesome!” Bruno Mathieu added.

Melania Trump has yet to comment on these remarks.

Meanwhile, during his speech, President Donald Trump called the kickoff race of the NASCAR season a “pure American glory” and told fans that “no matter who wins the race, what matters most is God, family, and country.” The POTUS and Melania Trump also took a lap around the track in the presidential limousine before the race.
