After delays from coronavirus canceled the 2020 event and postponed the 2021 one until the Fall, the uber-exclusive Met Gala is making its triumphant return to the first Monday in May this year. Still, even the biggest celebrities can’t guarantee that they will score an invite to the Met Gala.

The annual event, which is hosted at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and is hosted by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is only open to guests who received an invitation, and even some of Hollywood’s elite can be snubbed when it comes to scoring the exclusive invitation. This year, the “Gilded Glamour” event is once again set to have an exclusive guest list, with an estimated count of hundreds of people.

As for the guests who will be in attendance, the only attendees who have had their attendance confirmed are Wintour, her co-chairs, and those who are part of the exclusive hosting committee. This year, that includes Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Ford and Adam Mosseri.

Those attending will also be a large number of the most elite members of Hollywood society, as well as some of the biggest names in fashion. Some are also considered staples at the event, including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Billie Eilish and Selena Gomez, as well as members of the Kardashian and Jenner families.

The actual guest list remains under wraps, though several reports have surfaced claiming some of the names that will be there. Prestige reports that eight film directors who created the “cinematic vignettes” of the period-centric rooms of the museum are also going to attend, which includes Janicza Bravo, Sofia Coppola, Julie Dash, Martin Scorsese, Autumn de Wilde and Chloé Zhao.

According to Footwear News, the Deuxmoi spoiler Instagram account also revealed a large list of alleged attendees, including Maude and Iris Apatow, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Timothee Chalamet, Emma Chamberlain, Dixie D’Amelio, Alexa Demie, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, Lori Harvey, Shawn Mendes, Nicola Peltz, Katy perry, Addison Rae, Olivia Rodrigo, Tracee Ellis Ross, Harry Styles and Taylor Swift.

Many are anticipating this year’s event as it has been hinted that Kim Kardashian will make her official red carpet debut with boyfriend Pete Davidson, another usual attendee, at this year’s gala. Those hoping to see Zendaya and Tom Holland, however, will be disappointed, as the “Euphoria” star has revealed she will be working and unable to attend as a result.
