Monday, June 25, marks the three-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death.

Since 2009, fans have around the world have been mourning the tragic loss of The King of Pop by celebrating his music and honoring his memory. Admirers of Jackson gathered on Monday at the Neverland ranch, where Jackson lived in Santa Barbara County.

While many fans left notes and symbolic stones with writing on them, others stood and cried in remembrance of one of the greatest entertainers to have ever lived.

Michael Jackson died in 2009 from cardiac arrest. The Los Angeles Coroner's office ruled the death a homicide, and his doctor, Conrad Murray, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. Murray, who has served nearly seven months behind bars, in an E! interview published Monday, maintained his innocence.

The combination of the surgical anesthetic, propofol, and sedatives administered by Murray, proved to be fatal for the 50-year-old star.

Jackson remains one of the most successful entertainers of all time.

Throughout his career, Jackson proved to be just as good at setting records as he was at making them. Thriller (1982) is the best-selling album of all time, while MJ's other records, including Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995), also rank among the world's best-selling.

As one of the few artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- twice -- Jackson's contributions to the art of music, dance and fashion would eventually lead to him becoming a global figure that would take over pop culture for a solid four decades.
