Michelle Buteau spoke about her debut special on Netflix, entitled "Welcome to Buteaupia," and shared how one of her jokes about Meghan Markle was almost cut because many found it too risqué.

Buteau's "Welcome to Buteaupia" debuted late last month and in it she spoke about her "teeny tiny wish" for Markle to "let herself go." She jokingly added that in that way, she could play her own character on "The Crown."

"I'd make 'The Crown' so f---ing edgy. Oh my God, I'd be in the corner of Buckingham Palace getting my hair braided, sucking on a chicken bone, pouring frosé on someone's t----," she was quoted by Insider, as saying.

She continued her joke by mentioning that she wanted to do a sex scene with Prince Harry. However, it jumped into a conversation about male genitalia, which many felt was "crossing the line for most of my family members." In her defense, Buteau said the joke was natural to her because it spoke of who she is as a person.

"It's who I am and I am really tired of people shaming me because I like sex. That's ridiculous. And that's another thing that happens when you are a woman and it's like, you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't," she told Insider.

"Definitely look f---able, but don't talk about it and like it."

Despite the controversy brought about by her joke involving the royals, she advocated for keeping the bits about Markle in her set.

"We weren't going to put that in, but I was like, 'You know what? We got to keep that.' Because since day one I've been talking about it and look who she is now," she added. "It's like, come on."

In related news, Markle explained during Fortune's "Most Powerful Next Gen Summit" why she is not on social media anymore. Prince Harry and Markle had millions of followers when they were still on Instagram. But the royal couple did not create a new one after ditching the Sussex Royal account.

"For my own self-preservation, I have not been on social media for a very long time," Markle said.

"I’ve made a personal choice to not have any account, so I don’t know what’s out there, and many ways that’s helpful for me.”
