Michelle Obama talks about body positivity.

The former first lady confessed that it took time before she felt comfortable with her body. In a discussion with Oprah Winfrey at the Brooklyn stop of Oprah’s “2020 Vision” tour, Michelle said that women are “ridiculous” because they don’t want to talk about their age but then act and look like the way they did in their 20s.

Michelle also complained how women’s fashion is determined by her age. For instance, she could no longer wear her favorite overalls when she was 10 in her 20s, but some expect her to look like 36 when she is already 56. The ex-FLOTUS then shared the criticisms she received from the people while campaigning for her husband Barack for the presidential election.

“People called me all kinds of things when I was campaigning for Barack, like it was a competition,” Michelle said, People reported.

“They called me un-American, and this stuff sticks with you. Men talked about the size of my butt. There are people who were telling me I was angry. That stuff hurts, and it makes you sort of wonder, what are people seeing? That stuff is there. And look, I’m a black woman in America. And you know, we’re not always made to feel beautiful. So there’s still that baggage that we carry, and not everyone can relate to that.”

She admitted that things are harder for African American women and they are pressured to look a certain way. Michelle has already moved on from that issue and is now dedicated to embracing herself and her beauty.

“We need to take care of ourselves and when you don’t, as you get older, just like any living thing it begins to fail on you. And for me, I’m trying to figure out, what is that balance that I need to make sure that this body, that God gave me, that I’m taking care of it the best that I can and that it will serve me well as I get older,” she said.

In related news, Michelle admitted that Barack does ugly loud cry when it comes to their daughters Malia and Sasha. The former POTUS and FLOTUS are very emotional when the subject is their daughters.

Malia and Shasha are both away from their parents since they are currently attending college, leaving Michelle and Barack as empty nesters. Michelle joked that when her daughters were still with them, they took most of her energy “and they’re gone, thank God.”
