Three patrons of a central Michigan nightclub were injured after a stabbing early Sunday morning. Mount Pleasant Police have arrested a suspect after interviewing multiple eyewitnesses to the incident which took place at Wayside Central, near the campus of Central Michigan University.

According to the university's newspaper, Central Michigan Life, police had initial difficulty pinning down a suspect due to conflicting reports from witnesses. The police nonetheless released a description of the suspect as a Native American male in a red hat and tan shirt. The paper confirmed the arrest of a suspect at 2:15 p.m.

“There was an isolated off-campus incident tonight at Wayside Central,” the university said in a statement on Twitter. “Three victims have been reported with unspecified injuries. A suspect has been identified detained. There is no longer an ongoing threat to the public. The community is safe.”

Police Sergeant Dale Hawks said that it is currently unclear if the victims and the perpetrator are connected in any way.

“First and foremost, our number 1 concern is with the well being of the victim at this time. Our thoughts & prayers go out to him and his family during this time,” the management of Wayside Central said. “We shut down at 1:27 following the news from the PD that the suspect had been apprehended. Prior to this, at the direction and advice of law enforcement, we maintained business operations to create a perimeter and we assisted in (gathering) information from witnesses as well as obtaining critical video surveillance.”
