  • A recent tip points to a possible new release date of the Xbox Series X
  • Tom Warren said a tipster sent him an image of the box of an "unreleased Xbox Series X controller"
  • A sticker was placed and told retailers not to sell or display the controller before November 6, 2020
  • Microsoft was previously caught saying that the next-generation console would be arriving in "holiday 2020"

Despite earlier rumors on the launching of its next-generation console, Microsoft may be pushing for the big reveal of the Xbox Series X on November 6.

It was previously reported that the Redmond tech powerhouse put an “X” mark on November 5 for the arrival of the Series X and the Series S, but hints on a new date were recently discovered by The Verge's Tom Warren.

Warren said in an article that an anonymous tipster who was able to purchase an “unreleased Xbox Series X controller” sent him an image of the peripheral's box. An orange sticker specifically told retail stores not to sell or display the contents before November 6, 2020.

The author added that Microsoft has used the similar “orange street date” stickers before, while the controller, which came in white, is said to be compatible with both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. The controller made rounds online last week, while a separate, mysterious controller complete with Microsoft's novel D-Pad, share button and trigger buttons also appeared last month courtesy of Reddit user Wolfy_Wizzardo.

While it's not clear on how the controller was put on sale, those who have bought them found themselves registering the peripheral on Microsoft's support site and was only given a warranty that would expire on November 5, 2020. Warren said that in terms of “end dates,” the latter comes exactly a year after a potential November 6, 2020 release.

When asked why the controller became the talk of the town, Microsoft said that they have “nothing to announce,” but admitted that they have big plans for the console this year that they cannot wait to share to the public.

The expiry date came as an opposite end of a pole when Twitter user Zak S and Wccftech reported on the possible fact that the Xbox Series X would be launched on November 5th. Microsoft CFO Amy Hood was also caught saying that the console would arrive in November, although she didn't specify a date. The same can be said when the company was planning to release the Series X in “holiday 2020” despite the delay in the debut of “Halo Infinite” which was recently moved sometime next year.
