‘The Mindy Project’ Season 6 Trailer Features Mindy’s Ex-Boyfriends; Where Is Danny?

“The Mindy Project” Season 6 recently dropped the official trailer for its upcoming premiere episode.

In the almost two-minute clip, Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) has hilarious conversations with the other characters from the hit Hulu series. During a girl’s night out, Mindy tells her colleagues that she isn’t married. In Season 5, Mindy tied the knot with Ben (Bryan Greenberg) in the final episode. But Entertainment Weekly reported that when Season 6 premieres with a 10-month time-jump, Mindy and Ben are no longer together.

Mindy also reunites with some of her ex-boyfriends in the most absurd ways. In one of the scenes, she says “hi” to Cliff (Glenn Howerton). When he sees her, Cliff is obviously not thrilled. Mindy also kisses one of her other ex-boyfriends in the promo. But nowhere in sight is Danny (Chris Messina).

A few months ago, it was confirmed by Kaling herself that Messina will reprise his role in multiple episodes in Season 6. However, the actress also clarified that Danny won’t return to the show to get back together with Mindy. “We aren’t super interested in tying everything up in a bow. We’re trying to avoid that, while also leaving the audience with the sense that Mindy had some growth. Happily ever after can sometimes be romantic happiness, but it also can be a feeling of contentment about your life as a professional person and as a mother,” she told TV Line.

Meanwhile, the teaser also featured Mindy’s best friend, Morgan (Ike Barinholtz), getting into an accident. Morgan breaks his neck and will be spending some time at the hospital. When he checks out of the facility, he would have to sport a neck brace throughout the duration of the season.

In July, the actor told People that he was recovering from a neck injury in real life. “After I talked to Mindy and we agreed that the only option was writing it into the show. Luckily, on ‘The Mindy Project’ I play a character who could break his neck by falling out of his bunk bed and it’s completely believable,” he said.

“The Mindy Project” Season 6 will premiere on Hulu on Sept. 12.
