Police in Georgetown, Texas, said Thursday the search for a missing 50-year-old man is being considered a criminal investigation after another resident was arrested.

Jimmy Allen Tschoerner was arrested by Georgetown police for his alleged involvement in the disappearance of Harvey Huber, 50. He was booked at the Williamson County Jail on charges of evidence tampering with intent to impair a human corpse and was held on $500,000.

Huber was last seen around 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 in Georgetown while working at his business, Huber Auto Repair. Police said his family contacted them when he didn’t come home. A search was organized shortly thereafter.

Georgetown police received help from the Texas Rangers, Texas EquuSearch, and the FBI in searching for Huber.

“He left the shop and a tarp is missing,” EquuSearch director David White told reporters. “We are looking for that tarp. It's silver on one side and brown on the other.”

More than 120 volunteers were helped authorities search around Georgetown on Saturday. Police reportedly found something in a ditch on the north side of town but did not provide any details.

Police did not say what connection Tschoerner had to the case other than he was person of interest and allegedly tampered with evidence.

Tschoerner has two previous convictions stemming from crimes in the early 1990s. He was convicted in 1991 of kidnapping and aggravated robbery, and in 1994 of attempted rape and solicitation of murder.
