After objecting to the eventual certification of Joe Biden’s Electoral College votes, Rep Mo Brooks (R-AL) appears to be doubling down on his beliefs that not only was the attack on the Capitol building staged by Antifa and the Left but that the election was stolen and those who believe in it need to continue fighting.

In a statement on Twitter, Brooks revealed he had spoken to a member of the media and indicated that there were only three ways for citizens to ensure their voices were heard when it came to making sure they weren’t forced to into a box and had their freedom to express their thoughts. However, part of the message seemed to suggest that the insurrection that occurred was justifiable and even seemed to suggest that more needed to be done.

“Part of text I just sent to media person: ‘In the past, when citizens of a Republic lose faith in their ability to guide the destiny of their country via the election process, they have been FORCED by that country’s rulers into a box and FORCED to choose from any of 3 bad options: 1. Flee (emigrate). 2. Submit. 3. Fight back with violence,” he wrote in a series of Tweets. “THAT is why we must fight for honest & accurate elections. We don’t ever want citizens in America feeling they have been forced into the aforesaid box, with 3 bad options.”

Many quickly condemned the comments, saying he was only egging on the protestors who rioted.

However, they also came after Brooks indicated he did not believe that Trump’s supporters or anyone affiliated with MAGA or White Supremacist groups were actually behind the violent attacks at all. He previously took to his account to share that Antifa, a left-wing group, was actually behind what happened, and cited evidence he claimed to have to support the claim.

Among the evidence he cited was that he had been warned two days prior of an alleged growing threat from Antifa and had been advised to sleep in his office and that Capitol Police intelligence had learned that some Antifa members planned to infiltrate the protest and cause havoc. He also insisted that the truth would eventually be revealed.

However, fact-checkers from New York Times and other sources have said that Antifa had any involvement in what occurred at the Capitol.
