We’re on Day One of this year’s Mobile World Congress, and Lenovo has already impressed with their most recent announcement. The company has unveiled its Smart Clock 2, which is an improvement over their original Smart Clock. The Lenovo Smart Clock 2 is packed with a bunch of useful features and has some great upgrades from the original.

At its core, the Smart Clock 2 is mostly just a smart home speaker in a nice package. Users can set the Smart Clock 2 up as an alarm clock which will automatically provide a wake up routine when the morning’s alarm has been silenced. This includes reading the weather forecast for the day and providing any other requested information. The Smart Clock 2 is powered by Google, and comes wrapped in a more bedroom-friendly soft fabric exterior instead of something plastic.

Throughout the day, the Smart Clock 2 can be used like many other smart home speakers with screens. This includes the ability to link other smart home products such as doorbell cameras to alert owners for when people are at their door. The Smart Clock 2 can also play media, has a touchscreen interface, and responds to voice commands.

At night, the Lenovo Smart Clock 2 has a built-in nightlight to provide just the right amount of light for sleeping comfortably or allowing users to see their way to a bathroom without blinding them with anything too bright.

The most exciting addition to the Smart Clock 2 is also a little disappointing. There is a wireless charger that can be attached to the Smart Clock 2 that supplies a 10-watt source of power and comes with MagSafe features for iPhones. While this is the perfect addition to the Smart Clock 2, it looks like it will have to be an add-on purchase. The base Smart Clock 2 does not come with the wireless charge pad.

Lenovo has confirmed that a bundle with the Smart Clock 2 and the wireless charger will retail for around $90. The company has yet to confirm when the Smart Clock 2 will hit store shelves, but it will likely be before the end of the year.
