When viewers tuned into “My 600-LB Life” Season 8 on Wednesday night, they met addiction counselor, Bethany Stout. At the time of her debut on the TLC series, Bethany weighed around 607 pounds.

According to an update on her blog, it appears that Bethany is trying to continue her weight loss journey. However, the progress she has made is open to debate.

During her episode, Bethany claimed she was desperate to end her unhealthy relationship with food so, she could stick around for her children.

Bethany revealed she has been overweight since she was a child. Although her parents weren’t active in her life, her grandmother cared for her and made sure she always had a hearty meal.

Bethany’s relationship with food eventually became dangerous and only increased following abusive relationships, which triggered depression and anxiety.

Although Bethany was accepted into Dr. Nowzaradan’s weight loss program and managed to lose enough weight to receive gastric bypass surgery, her progress following the procedure was disappointing.

As part of her recovery from the surgery, Dr. Now ordered Bethany to go to psychotherapy to deal with the issues that created her unhealthy relationship with food, but she refused.

Although he revealed that it was important to address her issues to continue her journey, she decided to drop out of the program.

On Wednesday, Bethany shared a post on her blog, Bariatric Mama and reflected on her weight loss journey.

The “My 600-LB Life” subject revealed she could not share a lot of information with the public because of her contract with the TLC show. However, she insisted she has made progress and told a fan in the comment section that the editing of the series failed to show her dedication to her health.

“Remember the show is only a snippet of time and most of it is produced and coordinated for the narrative. I am doing well. I have a counselor I see weekly, in fact, I saw her today knowing this was going to air and it would be negative. I am working on past and present issues. I’m losing weight and continuing to work on my goals. I have a trainer, I’m exercising! I have a nutritionist and a new doctor. So please don’t think that I’m giving up cause I am not! I set out to make these changes for my family and I am going to do that. Nothing is stopping me.”

“My 600-LB Life” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on TLC.
