When fans tuned into “My 600-LB Life” Season 8 on Wednesday night, they were reunited with Mississippi resident Dottie Perkins , whose married name is Potts. At the time of her 2016 debut on the TLC series, she weighed 641.9 pounds.

Viewers saw Dottie struggle to reach a healthy weight, which became especially difficult when she lost her 13-year-old son, Daniel, who suffered from cerebral palsy. According to the most recent update, Dottie’s weight loss journey hasn’t become any easier.

During her episode of “My 600-LB Life” Season 8, Dottie was almost three years into her weight loss journey and was able to drop 271 pounds. However, she was hospitalized after a weight gain caused an incision from a previous surgery to reopen.

Distractify reported that Dottie benefited from her stay in Houston under Dr. Nowzaradan’s care, but she ended up quitting his weight loss program. Following five years of marriage, Dottie made the decision to leave her husband, Chris, due to his alcohol abuse.

“I honestly don’t think Chris is going to really change like he needs and truly give up alcohol because I’ve been through this before with him a long time ago,” she revealed.

Dottie wanted to shield her 4-year-old son, Landon, from that type of environment, so the two moved into a hotel. “The only way for me and Landon to go back home and into that environment again is for him to care about us more than getting drunk and lying about it,” she said.

“So if he wants us back, he’s going to have to change all that for good. But I just don’t see that happening,” the TLC subject added.

Unfortunately, Dottie revealed that she would run out of money in five days and was unsure of her next move.

Although Dottie left Chris at the end of the episode, the current state of their relationship is unclear. Both Dottie and Chris’ Facebook pages reveal they are married to one another.

“My 600-LB Life” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on TLC.
