Carmelo Anthony has yet to find a new team, and critics feel that his NBA career is coming to a close. Although he seems to be the type of player that can play a couple of more years, his style of play is seen as something that has turned several teams off.

At the moment, Anthony remains a member of the Houston Rockets. As of writing, no team has come forward to consummate a trade for the high-scoring forward. With the NBA trade deadline fast approaching, a likely scenario would see the 34-year-old star being bought out or getting waived.

This may all go down come the NBA trade deadline next month. Like most teams, the Rockets are likely waiting for a trade pitch before considering any buyout or trade involving the all-star forward. He has been kept in the freezer for almost two months now, yet another point that any interested team will take into consideration before signing up the prolific forward.

Assuming that the Rockets have exhausted all means of trading Melo and eventually agree to part with him amicably, the next question is which team would get him. The Lakers, who made it clear that they were not interested in adding Anthony before, could crop up once more. The Golden State Warriors or even the Boston Celtics could be linked, the New York Times said. But what about a former team in the Denver Nuggets?

It would be an odd scenario for Denver if they end up taking back Anthony, the same team that selected Carmelo with the third overall pick. He immediately repaid the Nuggets for that, leading Denver to the playoffs from 2004 to 2010. But his fortune started to decline when he jumped ship and join the New York Knicks in 2011.

Clutchpoints.com pointed out that very few players in NBA history got to finish their careers with the same team that originally drafted them. Ideally, this setup happens for players who are nearing retirement, a proper sendoff to show their gratitude for the NBA player.

The difference is that Anthony has more playing years ahead of him. It is his inability to adjust and move away from being an NBA star that has placed his basketball journey in turmoil.

The door is not yet totally shut on Anthony, but he needs to make the necessary adjustments. He can easily fit in with any team – but likely not anymore the top dog for any team.
