DICE will be releasing a new update for “Battlefield 1” tomorrow, and it includes the new map, Giant’s Shadow. The patch will also include some new features, a new weapon and the Spectator mode.

Those who pre-ordered “Battlefield 1” or purchased the Premium Pass DLC subscription will be getting Giant’s Shadow starting on Dec. 13. For everyone else, the new map will only be playable beginning Dec. 20. Giant’s Shadow is set in the Battle of the Selle in France during the last hundred days of the first World War. The battle was fought between the German Army and the British Empire.

Giant’s Shadow features a crashed airship within the map, which casts a shadow over the fighting forces. The map also includes a railway area, an open ground and river banks, according to Polygon.

As for weaponry, the update comes with a crossbow that launches a frag grenade. It will allow players to launch a grenade in longer distances. The new weapon is only available as a gadget for the Support class. The shotguns for the Assault class will also be rebalanced in the update. The range for the M97 trench gun, Model 10-A and sawed-off shotgun will be reduced, according to VG24/7.

The upcoming patch will come with a new custom game mode called Standard Issue Rifles. In this game mode, rifles will be available for all classes. However, the rifles will depend on which team a user is playing on. For example, if players are on the German Army, the only available rifle is the Gewehr 98. If players are on the British Empire, the only available rifle is the SMLE Mk. III. To make it even more challenging, all rifles won’t come with any optics and players will have to rely on the iron sights.

Lastly, “Battlefield 1” is now getting a Spectator mode that allows players to watch or record online multiplayer matches. Users will have to option to view matches in first-person and third-person camera views, as well as a bird’s eye view of the map. There’s also a free camera mode allowing users to move throughout the map.

“Another key design emphasis for us was to make Spectator a viable tool for the community to create content which includes a moveable third-person camera, depth of field, and camera filters,” EA said in its patch notes.
