  • "Far Cry 6" was initially set to release on February 18, 2021
  • A voice actor revealed he had not been contacted by Ubisoft yet
  • The game's devs reportedly likely recast an iconic character

An iconic series character that has been in the hit game "Far Cry" series since its third installment might not make it to the upcoming one, according to new information.

New details about "Far Cry 6" surfaced online recently, thanks to a recent tweet from one of the game's voice actors Dylan Taylor. Apparently, Ubisoft has decided that "Far Cry 6" would move on from one of its fan-favorite and recurring characters, Hurk. Taylor indirectly mentioned the information when he responded to a comment that inquired if he would be in the upcoming "Far Cry" installment.

The voice actor responded, saying that he missed that "big dummy" and revealed that he had not been contacted by anyone working on "Far Cry 6." This triggered speculations that Hurk would not be in the upcoming game. Taylor also mentioned that new folks oversee the series, which could be one of the reasons why they did not include the character in the new title. "I suppose I can tell you no one has been in touch with me and rumor has it there are new folks overseeing Far Cry and they may have kicked Hurk to the curb after all these years."

However, it is worth noting that this does not mean that Hurk is not in "Far Cry 6." Ubisoft likely recast the character, or maybe the recording has not yet happened. The latter seems unlikely, considering that the game is close to its release date. Hurk's absence in the upcoming game makes sense, somehow, since the game is set in a fictional location inspired by Cuba.

"Far Cry" fans first encountered Hurk in "Far Cry 3" where he strapped a monkey to bombs. Soon after, Hurk appeared in every game installment of the franchise. He has a minor appearance in "Far Cry 4" and in "Far Cry 5," where Hope Country turns out to be home to the Drubman family.

"Far Cry 6" was initially set to release on February 18, 2021. However, due to the constraints of the global health crisis, it is now scheduled for sometime later this year.
