“Orange is the New Black” creator Jenji Kohan recently admitted that the latest season of the hit Netflix series wasn’t as good as Seasons 1 to 4.

In her New Yorker profile, Kohan urged fans to tune in to Season 6 because the storyline will be better than Season 5. Kohan’s co-producer, Tara Hermann, said that one of the biggest problems of Season 5 was the fact that they lost a bunch of their writers after Season 4. “It wasn’t anyone’s fault. It was just a new dynamic – people were attached to the characters as viewers, not as creators,” she said.

Kohan also said that some of the plots of Season 5 could be described as “fan fiction.”

Meanwhile, “Orange is the New Black” Season 6 will dedicate some screentime to Donald Trump and his presidency. The inmates, who were separated in the finale episode, may not all return for the upcoming 13 episodes, according to Vanity Fair. One such example is Diane Guerrero, who just booked a series regular role in “Superior Donuts” Season 2.

Guerrero plays the role of Maritza in the hit Netflix series. She and her best friend, Flaca (Jackie Cruz), used a mobile device during the riot to upload videos of themselves on YouTube. They received hundreds of thousands of hits, but it was Maritza who received more love from their fans.

Despite a slight tinge of jealousy, Flaca was in tears when she was separated from Maritza. After all, no one has any idea which prison they will be sent to after they caused the riot inside Litchfield prison.

Additionally, Taystee (Danielle Brooks) and Soso (Kimiko Glenn) may continue to mourn the shocking death of Poussey (Samira Wiley) since they staged the riot three days after her demise.

“Orange is the New Black” Season 6 also stars Laverne Cox as Sofia, Natasha Lyone as Nicky, Laura Prepon as Alex and Taylor Schilling as Piper. All four characters are expected to have major storylines in Season 6, especially since they killed someone and hid his body in the garden in Season 5.

“Orange is the New Black” Season 6 will premiere on Netflix in June 2018.
