An elderly man fatally shot his neighbors before killing himself in Mannford, Oklahoma, on Monday.

Mannford police responded to the Lake County neighborhood after receiving multiple calls from neighbors who heard gunshots. The officers found 57-year-old Mary Milam and 59-year-old Donald Langdon dead outside their home. Their neighbor, identified as 83-year-old James Hancock, admitted to shooting the couple. The man then shot himself in front of officers. He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

Investigation was ongoing to find out the circumstances that led to the crime.

Meanwhile, the people in the neighborhood were worried about their safety following the incident.

"This rarely happens in this area, but for this to happen right across the street it's disheartening," James Johnson, who lives in the neighborhood, told Fox-affiliated television station KOKH-TV.

He added he didn’t know much about the three people involved in the incident or what led to it.

"I feel bad for their families, obviously you don't want to ever hear about someone getting killed," said Johnson.

He was also not sure if he would let his daughter play outside anymore.

"As far as a father, a mother, anything it's protecting your kids," he said.

The incident occurred less than a month after a man fatally shot his roommate before killing himself following an argument at their home in Moore, Oklahoma. Police arrived at the scene and heard multiple gunshots coming from inside the residence. The officers entered the residence and found two men, later identified as 26-year-old Trey Mitcheltree and 27-year-old Austin Mansfield, lying unresponsive in a pool of blood. They were pronounced dead.

Police determined the two got into an argument following which Mansfield shot his roommate several times in the chest. Mitcheltree, however, survived the wounds and tried to escape. That was when Mansfield shot his roommate again following which he succumbed to his injuries. Mansfield then turned the gun on himself. Investigation revealed the two attended Moore High School and were friends. The motive behind the murder was not known.
