KEY POINTS

  • A photo reportedly showed Olivia Rodrigo taking a class at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music Wednesday
  • Another image reportedly revealed that her status at the school is an "undergraduate visitor" with an "unclassified" major
  • USC alumni previously featured in a live performance of her song "Favorite Crime"

Olivia Rodrigo reportedly surprised students of the University of Southern California (USC) when she took a class alongside them Wednesday.

A photo made the rounds on social media appearing to show the 19-year-old "Drivers License" singer listening to a lecture at the USC Thornton School of Music, TMZ reported.

It is not clear who shared the snap, but they were apparently a classmate of Rodrigo's as they captioned the photo: "No way, I'm in class with Olivia bruh."

A second image that surfaced on Olivia Rodrigo fan pages reportedly revealed that her status at the school is an "undergraduate visitor" with an "unclassified" major, according to Daily Mail.

A "visiting student" may enroll in and complete "individual courses for professional or personal development without enrolling in a degree program," according to the USC website. This suggests that Rodrigo is not currently pursuing a full degree at USC and is only taking classes.

Representatives for Rodrigo and USC have not yet commented on the photos.

Online drama reporter and YouTuber Def Noodles shared the viral photo via Twitter Wednesday, writing: "Olivia Rodrigo is taking music production classes at USC. How [the f--k do] you win 3 Grammys and not teach the class??"

Fans of the pop star reacted to the photo, sharing on social media that they hope to meet Rodrigo on campus.

"Olivia Rodrigo in a music production class at USC today, and it wasn't mine? That's sick and twisted," one user wrote.

Another commented, "I cannot believe Olivia Rodrigo started attending USC right after I transferred. That is so rude."

Rodrigo has a documented relationship with USC and the Thornton School of Music. Alumni from the school featured in a live performance of her song "Favorite Crime." The USC Marching Band also performed her smash hit "Good 4 U" during football games last season.

Rodrigo got her big break in the music industry after releasing the hit "Drivers License" early last year, which earned her the trophy for best pop solo performance at the Grammys and Song of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Since then, the singer had been recognized for writing relatable songs that make waves on social media. She released her first studio album "Sour" in May last year, featuring the hit singles "Deja Vu," "Traitor," "Brutal" and "1 step forward, 3 steps back."

Prior to becoming a pop sensation, Rodrigo was a former child actress on Disney Channel. She starred in "Bizaardvark" as Paige Olvera from 2016 to 2019. She also played the lead role of Nini Salazar-Roberts in the Disney+ series "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" opposite Joshua Bassett.
