An Oregon woman was fatally shot by her brother-in-law Sunday after the latter got into an argument with the victim’s husband over laundry.

The suspect was taken into custody the same day, and charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, Oregon Live reported, citing court documents.

The shooting took place at the victim’s home in North Newman Avenue, Portland. The victim’s husband, Jordan Arb, told investigators he got into an argument with his brother, Shane Finnell, 25, over laundry during which the latter threw a potted plant at him in a fit of rage.

The victim, identified as Alexandra Arb-Bloodgood, 29, was sitting in a chair on the patio with her back to Finnell when he walked up to her and shot her in the back of her head at close range with a revolver.

A neighbor across the street called cops after hearing the gunshot and seeing Finnell flailing his arms and appearing upset, the outlet reported, citing a probable cause affidavit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court.

The police responded to the call at around 8.34 a.m. ET and arrested Finnell. "I did a horrible thing," Finnell told the police after his arrest, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by People.

The murder weapon was reportedly recovered from the front yard of the victim’s house. The police didn’t specify who lived in the house. It was not clear if Finnell had obtained legal representation.

In April, two women were shot to death inside a Washington apartment by an unidentified suspect, apparently following a domestic dispute. The suspect later set the house on fire with a 3-month-old baby inside and fled the scene. Authorities responding to the reports of fire found a third woman unconscious with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the apartment. The infant was found alive by cops and the blazes were contained. The deceased women were believed to be the baby’s mother and grandmother. It wasn’t clear why the third woman was shot.
