When the 2015 Oscar nominees were announced, it was clear that “Selma” star David Oyelowo was snubbed from the best actor category. The 38-year-old’s exclusion was one of the many that spurred the “Oscars So White” debate on Twitter. Academy Award host Neil Patrick Harris already made one joke about the lack of diversity – and made another one while talking with Oyelowo.

The “Selma” actor, who was born in Oxford, was brought into the conversation while Harris was discussing the “British invasion” that was happening. The crowd immediately broke into applause, prompting Harris to provide the perfect response: “Oh sure, now you like him.”

While David Oyelowo was snubbed for his role as Martin Luther King Jr., “Selma” is still up for best picture and best original song. The actor is also on hand at the 87th Academy Awards as a presenter.
