Blizzard Entertainment has recently included Sigma to the “Overwatch” test servers just recently. This new hero is 31st hero to the roster and is a tank character that can control gravity. Compared to other tanks, Sigma seems to be a character that can protect allies and attack foes with a smart style.

Overwatch lead designer Jeff Kaplan has recently introduced this new hero through an introduction video posted on the official “Overwatch” Youtube channel. The character doesn’t seem to be offense-heavy as a tank but does have many tools to help the whole team stay alive in teamfights.

Sigma’s weapon are called Hyperspheres which are small black holes which are encased a 20 sided dice-like container. This character throws these spheres in two-round bursts and will implode in a small area when hitting foes. If it hits any other surfaces, it bounces once before imploding which make it a great attack to bypass barriers and protective cover.

His protective abilities consist of a defensive vortex that absorbs shots to boost his shields, and a deployable barrier which can be set in the area and take at will. Sigma is equipped with the means to protect as a Tank.

Other than his defensive abilities, Sigma can also collect rocks into a created black hole and fling it toward an enemy. This ability deals decent damage and can stun enemies which is handy for fighting mobile enemies that can fly and zip past this slow-moving tank.

His ultimate allows him to float for a bit and lift enemies in an area. Enemies caught will float uncontrollably and cannot leave until Sigma slams them to the ground for around 200 damage. While the ability seems strong, enemies can still shoot and fight while floating in the air.

Overall, Sigma’s kit is balanced mix of protective and offensive abilities at the cost of barely any good mobility choices and an easy way to kill off foes.

For his backstory, Sigma was a successful and known astrophysicist who obtained gravity-based powers after a freak experiment. After the failed experiment, Sigma was taken into custody for observation about his uncanny gravity powers. The antagonistic organization got wind of Sigma’s existence and broke him out of captivity.

Sigma’s interests still lie in his field of study but seem to have mental issues that came with the accident and don’t realize he’s being used for nefarious goals.

The 31st Overwatch character is now available on the Public Test Region servers of Overwatch and fans will have to wait for his official release to play as him in the live servers.
