It's no secret that being an entrepreneur and maintaining a healthy lifestyle are necessary for those who want to succeed. But in reality, getting those two things to get along is often easier said than done. But why does it have to be that hard?

Ozzie Blessed, a business partner at Growth Cave, points out that entrepreneurs who want to find the right balance must choose between taking care of themselves or their businesses.

"We all know how much entrepreneurs love their businesses, especially the first-timers, and it's not easy to part with your baby," he says. "But that's a natural mistake. Finding that balance is one of the harder lessons I had to learn, and I only learned it while I was building my second business."

Why is balance necessary?

Running a business can be demanding and requires a lot of physical and mental energy. As per Ozzie Blessed, keeping your body healthy and mind focused is crucial for an entrepreneur's success and the future development of their active lifestyle.

He points out that if an entrepreneur's mind or body is not in optimal condition, it can and often will negatively impact their abilities and critical thinking: "This narrows your possibilities to communicate effectively, make good decisions, manage stress, and be productive on your journey to the top," he explains.

"I constantly care for my health, but also about the health of others around me," says Ozzie Blessed. "Even my sales technique involves analyzing body language to know how to approach the clientele."

Five keys to staying fit and focused

Ozzie Blessed says that getting the balance right doesn't require sacrifice or any kind of torture, contrary to popular opinion. According to him, you only need to make small changes in your daily routine and be well on your way to achieving the proper work-life balance.

The first key element Ozzie implemented in his life is regular exercise. He believes physical activity is crucial for maintaining good health.

"Any exercise releases endorphins, which improve your moods and boost energy," Ozzie explains. "It also reduces stress which accumulates during working hours." This leads to the following key point: mindfulness and stress management.

Ozzie recommends people start practicing meditation, deep breathing, or yoga. "I practice things such as laws of attraction and manifestation - it keeps me moving forward and never losing faith in me or my decisions," explains Ozzie.

The third change in the everyday routine in Ozzie's life is adequate sleep. He points out that entrepreneurs should prioritize getting enough restful sleep. "After a long day fulfilled with hard work, they need to allow their bodies to recharge and recover - so they can be their best versions the next day at work," says Ozzie Blessed.

He also takes care of his healthy diet. "The fourth key is to create a balanced diet. That will provide the energy and mental clarity necessary to tackle the day's tasks," Ozzie says. "When you have all these elements, you set your goals and plan for them."

He believes that by combining these small changes, people learn to be organized and how set their higher/new goals. "When you apply these small changes to your everyday routine - you will learn how the planning element has a crucial role in finding balance."

And last but not least - the fifth essential element Ozzie uses to balance staying fit and focused is maintaining the growth mindset. "When you have your brain wrapped around health as the largest asset, it will provide you more creativity and confidence," says Ozzie. "We all know those are essential components for wealth and development every entrepreneur strives for."

However, he does point out that keeping the balance is continuous work, but luckily he has a magic formula to share, and it is rather simple - just stick with your decision! "Nothing happens overnight except maybe losing everything," he says. "But even that happens only when you are not focused enough to see the signs of pending failure. That's why you need to be sharp and focused at all times. Instead of waging mental war with yourself by jumping headfirst, take it step-by-step, and you'll start seeing progress in no time."
