The countdown is over. After sending fans into a frenzy of speculation last week by posting a countdown clock on their official website, grunge heroes Pearl Jam have announced plans to hit the road for a North American tour this fall. The band -- Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Matt Cameron -- will play two shows this summer in London and at Chicago’s Wrigley Field before heading out for a two-month run.

The tour will kick off on Oct. 11 in Pittsburgh and wind through Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Charlotte, Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles and other cities before wrapping up with a hometown gig on Dec. 6 in Seattle. In between dates, the band has also scheduled a headlining appearance at the 15th annual Voodoo Music & Arts Experience in New Orleans. The exact date hasn't yet been confirmed.

Tickets for the fall tour will go on sale beginning on Saturday, July 27, at 10 a.m. local time.

As Consequence of Sound points out, there's a new countdown clock on PearlJam.com, which is set to hit zero on Thursday at noon PST. Fans are speculating that this will lead to an announcement of a new studio album, the band’s first since 2009’s “Backspacer.” Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, check out a full list of tour dates below.
