A Pennsylvania woman has been arrested for allegedly shooting her elderly parents to death and dismembering their bodies using a chainsaw.

Verity Beck, 49, has been accused of murdering her parents, Reid Beck, 73, and Miriam Beck, 72, at their Jenkintown home.

She was arrested on murder charges after police found her parents' bodies in "different stages of dismemberment" Tuesday, the New York Post reported.

Deputies arrived at the residence where Verity lived with her parents after her brother called the cops for a wellness check Tuesday. The family had not heard from the elderly couple since Jan. 7.

The brother called 911 after seeing what appeared to be a body under a blanket. Verity told her brother that things at the home had been "bad." But when he asked her to call the cops, she said she needed "more time," the complaint said, as per the outlet.

The officers who entered the house noticed the smell of the decomposing bodies and found the mutilated remains of both victims. Reid's remains were "wrapped in a white sheet and comforter," police reportedly said.

"There were signs of extreme trauma, and I'll tell you that the chainsaw was found. And both Reid and Miriam were found in different stages of dismemberment," Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said Wednesday, according to the outlet.

Investigation revealed that Verity shot her parents from a close range after placing a pillow on their faces. Investigators discovered at least three guns belonging to Verity and the chainsaw allegedly used for mutilating the bodies, NBC Philadelphia reported.

"Verity used this chainsaw and put parts of her parents into trash bags and covered them up. They were actually in two different trash cans," Steele said, as per 6 ABC.

Police reportedly believe that the couple was killed on Jan. 7 and the suspect dismembered the bodies in the course of nine days.

Officers found drill marks on a large safe inside the house that looked like someone without a key had attempted to access it. Meanwhile, police have not revealed the exact motive behind the brutal killings.

Verity faces first-degree murder and third-degree murder charges and she is being held without bail.
