In a shocking incident, two passengers onboard a Thai Smile Airways flight engaged in a full-blown physical altercation.

The incident occurred on a Thai Smile Airways flight that was traveling from Bangkok, Thailand to Kolkata, India, on Monday.

A video of the incident that went viral on social media showed two men arguing with each, while crew members attempted to pacify the situation, India Today reported Wednesday.

One of the passengers can be heard saying, "shanti se baith" (sit down quietly), while the other said, "hath neeche kar" (put your hand down). Within seconds of the verbal confrontation, the two men were engaged in a physical spat in front of other passengers.

The man in the gray sweatshirt was seen removing his spectacles and then slapping the other passenger in a black jacket. At this moment, the friends of the passenger in the gray sweatshirt were seen joining him. The other man, however, was only seen defending himself and didn't hit back.

Meanwhile, cabin crew and co-passengers were seen asking the man to stop hitting the other. "Sir, please stop," a cabin crew member was heard saying.

"Stop right now, stop," another crew member said on the microphone. Other passengers, expressing shock, were also seen asking the unidentified men to stop.

Shortly after the scuffle, some flight attendants managed to separate the two passengers.

One of the passengers, who was on the plane, told Press Trust Of India, the fight broke out just before the plane was taxiing to the runway for takeoff.

The reason behind the altercation remained unknown. It was also unclear whether the incident was reported to the authorities after the flight landed.

Thai Smile Airways has not responded to the incident.

This incident came days after a verbal spat broke out midair between a flight attendant and a passenger on a flight traveling from Turkey to India. The argument reportedly began with an issue about in-flight meals, in which the passenger asked for a sandwich and then began yelling at a flight attendant when she said she would check if it was available. "You are pointing finger at me and yelling at me. My crew is crying because of you," the flight attendant told the passenger, who responded by asking why she was yelling.
