Written by Rick Muirragui and directed by Amanda Marsalis, Season 1, episode 5 of “Whiskey Cavalier,” titled “The English Job,” was all about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Without mentioning Meghan Markle or Prince Harry by name (only by title), the March 27 episode of the ABC drama centered around a plot to kill the royals, leading up to the assassination attempt thwarted by U.S. agents and an MI6 operative.

“We know this is about blackmail, and we discovered that every one of the robbery victims has something in common — direct access to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” MI6 agent Emma Davies (Ophelia Lovibond) explained about the situation to her allies on the case.

“They’re after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” CIA operative Frankie (Lauren Cohan) concluded.

“We need to figure out the when and the where,” FBI agent Will (Scott Foley) added.

“It looks like they invited the royal couple to a luncheon,” analyst Standish (Tyler James Williams) revealed.

“You know, if you want to create chaos, killing some royals kind of makes sense,” FBI agent Jai (Vir Das) acknowledged.

After figuring out the where and the when, Will, Frankie and Emma busted in and saved the royals before they could be assassinated. They were on their knees, being held captive by one gunman and about to be shot, but the agents got there just in time.

Just like how “Whiskey Cavalier” refrained from using Markle and Prince Harry’s names in the episode, the show also refrained from showing much of their faces in this scene.

From the brief glimpses of the back of their heads, their clothes and the profile of their faces, though, it was clear they were tailored to look like the real-life Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

This is all just only one example of the royals getting mentioned in recent episodes of TV shows. There was a quick reference to Markle and Prince Charles on “Superstore” last week, and there were also a few times the pregnant royal was talked about on “Lethal Weapon,” “Grown-ish,” “Jeopardy!” and quite a few other shows.

Keep watching “Whiskey Cavalier” on ABC on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT to find out if the royals get another mention.
