Prince Andrew once complained about how lonely his life was after he split from Koo Stark. The public thought that the Duke of York will settle down with Stark.

In an article for Vanity Fair, journalist Sue Arnold said that even though Prince Andrew was known as the playboy prince, he also had his own bouts of shyness and alienation. And they only became worse after his split from Stark.

“There was a touching lost-little-boy look about Andrew in his post-Koo, pre-Fergie period. He took refuge in unlikely places such as at the ballet, haunting Covent Garden, and staring dreamily at ballerinas,” she wrote.

In order to cope with the breakup, Prince Andrew buried himself in his only real hobby: photography. The dad of two went as far as converting one of the bathrooms on the third floor of the Buckingham Palace into his darkroom.

During this time, Prince Andrew also lived inside Prince Charles’ old rooms. And inside the four corners of his older brother’s room are black and white photos featuring landscapes, bare trees, and straggling sheep.

And during one of his interviews at that time, David Frost asked the dad of two what his theme is for his photos. He heartbreakingly said that his theme his loneliness. But when his photos were published in his book, they were simply titled “Photographs.”

One year after the release of Prince Andrew’s book, he started dating Sarah Ferguson. A few months later, the couple decided to tie the knot at Westminster Abbey.

Meanwhile, Prince Andrew also made headlines this week after it was revealed that he once made the Queen Mother very angry. In “Charles: The Untold Story,” royal author Ross Benson said that the late royal was so incensed by “It’s A Royal Knockout.”

“The Queen Mother’s face was white with rage and she reminded her grandchild of the abdication and the danger that had posed to the monarchy,” he said.
