Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles reportedly have a strange thing at home.

Brian Hoey, the author of “Not in Front of the Corgis,” revealed that the Highgrove House features a steel-lined room, which is said to be impregnable in the event of an attack by terrorists. The room may be found on the first floor, and it is known as the Iron Room.

According to the expert, the room was built so that even if the rest of the house is destroyed, the Iron Room will drop intact to the ground floor. Hoey also detailed what may be found inside the room.

“Inside are medical supplies, including containers of Charles and Camilla’s blood group, long-lasting food and drinks, and armory, radio transmitters equipped to obtain a signal even within its steel walls, air purifiers, and chemical lavatories,” he said.

Hoey said that the Iron Room is the only part of Highgrove that isn’t shown to visitors.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall chose to live in Gloucestershire because of its easy access to London, Wales, and other key parts of Britain.

“A specially built reed bed sewage system, much loved by dragonflies at its treatment end, is used for all Highgrove’s waste. Rare trees and plants are grown for future generations to enjoy and heritage seeds are planted to ensure these varieties continue to flourish,” Hoey explained.

He also said that this ethically and environmentally conscious approach is carried through the management of the entire house, where energy-saving bulbs and solar lights may also be found. All kitchen waste goes through the composting system, and biomass boilers and ground and air source heat pumps are used to provide heating and hot water.

In the past, Camilla used to smoke, and she used to give special instructions to the footmen to place silver cigarette boxes containing her favorite brand in every room. The author claimed that Camilla’s cigarette bill came to over $127 a week, and it was one of her extravagances that Prince Charles disliked.

But according to Daily Mail, Camilla has already quit smoking.
