Prince Charles To Cut Princes Andrew, Edward’s Funding After Queen Elizabeth Passes Away?

Prince Charles could cut the funding of Prince Andrew and Prince Edward after Queen Elizabeth dies. This is because the heir to the throne will take over his mom’s role and will become King.

But even though Prince Charles would eventually have a say on where the royal family’s money goes, it is unlikely for him to leave his two younger brothers without anything.

On the online forum site Quora, Chris Smith of Macquarie University said that if Prince Andrew and Prince Edward’s funding will be cut, this would mean that they would no longer perform royal duties on behalf of the British clan.

“Andrew will be a Counsellor of State for at least the next 15 years in the Queen’s reign. As it is highly unlikely that the Queen will live that long he will be a Counsellor of State for another 16.5 years (until Charlotte turns 21). Of course, if Charles also leaves us in that time then it will be until Louis turns 21. Charles knows that,” he said.

But according to Leslie Martin, Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward are all princes of the realm and are individually addressed as His Royal Highness. As such, there is no diminishing of the roles that they have and the duties that they are partaking in just because Prince Charles is King.

Eileen Wood also said that the money of the royal siblings comes from the Queen’s Duchy of Lancaster income. But they also have their own money.

“While it would be entirely possible for King Charles to cut their funding, it won’t happen. Assuming the Queen lives another 10 years, Charles’ siblings will be 79, 69, and 65 years old respectively. That’s a bit old to find new jobs and new sources of income. And they will still be performing Royal duties, which entitles them to payment from the monarch’s income,” she said.

Wood also said that Prince Charles already informed Prince Andrew and Prince Edward that their children should have their own jobs because they won’t be given salaries since they are not working royals.
