Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth II weren’t happy with what Prince Edward did to 19-year-old Prince William.

When the Duke of Cambridge started his college years, Prince Charles gave camera crews one-day access to his son when he arrived at school. The Prince of Wales then made it clear that any further intrusion on Prince William’s life after that day would violate a privacy guideline agreement between the royal family and the media.

Much to Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth II’s surprise, the Earl of Wessex’s TV production company, Ardent, was seen filming Prince William after that day. The company was immediately accused of intruding Prince William’s privacy. The Prince of Wales and Her Majesty weren’t happy when they learned about the news.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles were reportedly “mortified” when they learned about the filming incident, according to an insider. They considered Prince Edward the “black sheep of the family.” The insider added that they can forgive the Earl of Wessex, but it will take time.

“The royal family is baffled about Edward’s invasion of his nephew’s privacy,” Bill Hoffman wrote for the New York Post.

Meanwhile, Katie Nicholl shared a similar story about the incident in her book “William and Harry.” According to the biographer, the palace only said that it was “disappointed” to hear the news. However, there’s actually more to it behind palace doors.

Prince Charles reportedly “went ballistic” after learning how Prince Edward’s company violated the guideline. The Prince of Wales called his brother and uttered some harsh words over the phone.

“As far as Charles was concerned, the incident, for which Edward publicly apologised, only served to highlight his argument that members of the royal family could not pursue independent careers and also carry out royal duties,” Nicholl added.

It was not the only controversy involving Prince Edward, however. One time, Queen Elizabeth summoned him for accusing Sarah Ferguson of disloyalty.

In the past, Prince Edward wanted to keep his romance with Sophie, Countess of Wessex private, so it could develop in its own time. He was shocked when Princess Diana’s biographer Andrew Morton found out about it.

The Earl of Wessex immediately concluded that it was the Duchess of York who leaked the details about his affair to her press contacts. Her Majesty, who is very fond of Ferguson, didn’t like what her son did.

Queen Elizabeth II summoned Prince Edward and told him that it was unfair for Ferguson to be accused of disloyalty. Prince Edward immediately apologized for upsetting the Queen.
