Prince Charles was photographed in his kilt during his recent trip to Scotland, but his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, was not in tow.

The future king attended the special opening of the new state-of-the-art fish market in Aberdeenshire. Prince Charles, who is known as the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, was also seen chatting and laughing with stallholders at the new North Bay building.

The new market will be able to accommodate greater quantities of stocks being delivered on the quayside at Peterhead, the largest white fish, and pelagic port in the United Kingdom. It replaces the old market at Merchants Quay.

During the first nine weeks of its operation, more than 250,000 boxes of fish were sold in the new market. This figure rose to 340,000 boxes in 11 weeks.

Prince Charles was invited to attend the opening ceremony alongside 500 other guests. But his wife reportedly stayed back in London. Kara Godfrey, a journalist for Express, previously said that wives of royals are not always expected to join them on all of their engagements if they are not involved in the same charity or cause.

For instance, Kate Middleton didn’t accompany Prince William on his trip to Africa even though the country is also close to her heart.

Christina Reeves, a royal expert, explained, “Typically William has always worked solo in his fight against illegal wildlife trade, which is why we wouldn’t see Kate join him on a trip like this or him joining Kate on her own personal projects, such as promoting the importance of perinatal, maternal, and children’s mental health.”

Last weekend, Bowles attended the musical premiere of “Requiem: The Souls of the Righteous” at St. Mary’s Cathedral, and Prince Charles didn’t accompany her either. Bowles was photographed in her striking tartan dress. Her suit was in a subtle shade of emerald green and it also featured a tailored blazer and a mid-length skirt. The tartan is carefully positioned on the turned-out collar of her attire and it also matched with her skirt.
