Prince Edward reportedly sparked outrage after he broke royal protocol in the disastrous 1987 TV show called “It’s A Royal Knockout.”

In Channel 5’s new documentary “Paxman on the Queen’s Children,” singer and actress Toyah Wilcox, who helped Prince Edward organize the television show, said that the prince upset Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip with his unconventional way of raising money.

Wilcox explained that it wasn’t the television show itself that was disastrous but Prince Edward’s reaction when the event concluded.

“I believe, for one second in time, it turned, there was a tipping point. Prince Edward didn’t want the press milling around and he went into the press tent and just said, ‘no, you guys are staying here,’ and the whole atmosphere just flipped,” she said.

Wilcox also recounted how in one episode called “Now That’s Embarrassing: The 80s,” Prince Edward asked the journalists what they thought of the show, and they responded with nervous laughter. Prince Edward stormed out of the press conference, and he sarcastically thanked the journalists for their enthusiasm.

According to Wilcox, the journalists were feeling hot and hungry at that time so they weren’t able to give Prince Edward the best reaction. The royal, in turn, felt that they dissed him and he lost his temper.

It's A Royal Knockout” saw the members of the royal family competing against celebrities in the world of sports, music, and television in a series of wacky challenges and events. Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Sarah Ferguson participated in the show, but Prince Charles and Princess Diana refused to take part in it.

Presenter and broadcaster Vanessa Feltz said that Prince Edward wanted the press to commend him for his efforts and say that the show was fabulous when it was not. She described “It's A Royal Knockout” as embarrassing and called it a monstrous carbuncle on the entire history of the royal family.

In related news, Prince Edward also made headlines today after it was revealed that he favored Ferguson over Princess Diana. Ingrid Seward, a royal expert, said that Prince Edward and Ferguson sometimes ate out together.
