Prince William and Kate Middleton's eldest child Prince George made a surprise appearance at the men's singles final match at Wimbledon 2022 Sunday, marking his first time at the tennis tournament.

The 8-year-old royal was spotted sitting between his parents in the Royal Box as they watched Serbia's Novak Djokovic face off against Australia's Nick Kyrgios on day 14 of the championship at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, People reported.

Prince George, who is third in line to the British throne, wore a navy blue suit and matching striped tie for the outing. He was photographed making animated expressions while watching the game, as his proud parents looked on at their boy.

Duchess Kate wore a navy blue and white polka dot dress, while Prince William donned a gray suit, light blue shirt and navy blue tie.

Prince William and Middleton, who are also parents to 7-year-old Princess Charlotte and 4-year-old Prince Louis, are regulars at the annual tournament. The duchess, a longtime tennis fan and the royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club since 2016, also watched the women's singles final the previous day.

The official Wimbledon Twitter account shared a video of the Cambridges meeting Djokovic after he won Sunday's match, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (3).

"It's been a special first Wimbledon visit for Prince George," the caption read.

In the clip, the tennis champ allowed Prince George to hold the coveted trophy.

"Don't drop it," Prince William jokingly told his son while laughing.

Fans and social media users were happy to see the adorable interaction between Prince George and Djokovic.

"What a lovely moment for George! Very kind of him to let George hold it!" one Twitter user commented.

"Legend Novak...speaking to the next king while asking the future king to hold on to the trophy," another added.

Sunday's match marked Middleton and Prince William's second appearance at Wimbledon together this year.

On Tuesday, they watched the men's singles quarterfinal match between Djokovic and Jannik Sinner of Italy as well as that of Cameron Norrie of the U.K. and David Goffin of Belgium.

The Duchess of Cambridge was also spotted sharing a sweet moment with her parents Carole and Michael Middleton, who also watched the match from the Royal Box but were seated a few rows away from their daughter. After she took her front-row seat, the future queen consort blew her parents a kiss and waved at them.
