  • Prince Harry revealed in "Spare" that Meghan Markle made a comment before their royal wedding that made Kate Middleton cry
  • Markle reportedly commented that Middleton "must have baby brain," which upset the latter
  • The former actress previously accused tabloids of falsely claiming that she made Middleton cry during a spat

Prince Harry's revelations in his new book about his wife Meghan Markle and sister-in-law Kate Middleton's 2018 spat over flower girl dresses have led to accusations that the former actress misled viewers in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Markle appeared to blame the feud on Middleton in the 2021 interview, accusing tabloids of falsely claiming that she made the then-Duchess of Cambridge cry during an argument before the Sussexes' 2018 wedding.

The Duchess of Sussex claimed that Middleton had been "upset about something" at the time but later apologized to her, bringing her flowers and a note like "what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone."

Markle then confirmed that their spat was related to flower girl dresses, "and it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings." She also complained about being "blamed for something that not only I didn't do but that happened to me."

But according to Prince Harry's memoir "Spare," the former actress had also upset Middleton when she told Prince William's wife she "must have baby brain because of her hormones," the New York Post reported. Middleton gave birth to her third child, Prince Louis, a month before Meghan and Harry's wedding.

In the book, Prince Harry claimed that Middleton was very upset over a discussion about the timing of the wedding rehearsal and the flower girl dresses.

Middleton reportedly texted Markle the week of her wedding about a "problem" with the dress of her daughter Princess Charlotte, who was one of the Sussexes' flower girls.

Harry wrote that the girls' "French haute couture dresses" had been "hand-sewn based solely on [the bridesmaids'] measurements" so they were not surprised that it needed some tweaks.

Markle reportedly told Middleton to bring her daughter to the palace, where a tailor was waiting to perform alterations for all six of the bridesmaids, but her response was reportedly "not sufficient" for the Princess of Wales, who arranged a time for the two to talk.

During their talk, Middleton reportedly told the then-bride-to-be that Princess Charlotte's dress was "too big, long and baggy" and that her daughter "burst into tears when she tried it on," according to the book.

However, Markle reiterated that she should bring Princess Charlotte to the tailor. Middleton then allegedly told the former actress that all the bridesmaid dresses needed to be completely remade, Prince Harry wrote.

It was then that Markle made the "baby brain" remark, according to the memoir.

Middleton eventually took her daughter to the tailor, but the "altercation" reportedly left Markle feeling hurt. Prince Harry wrote that he found his wife-to-be crying "on the floor" at the time.

The following day, his sister-in-law apologized and gave her flowers and a card, according to Prince Harry.

According to Harry's memoir, Markle was reprimanded for the remark and told that she wasn't close enough to Middleton to say something like that. Markle allegedly became "offended" by the telling-off and was reduced to tears.

After Prince Harry's revelations made headlines, Markle's "baby brain" comment received mixed responses on social media.

"Meghan is not a feminist. Her behavior was insensitive and rude toward Kate and toward pregnant women in general with her 'baby brain' accusation to diminish Kate," one person commented.

"I've heard it plenty over the last couple of decades. Baby brain simply means hormones are all over the map for a while," another user wrote.
